Shipments Plummet in April

Metal shipments in the U.S. and in Canada fell at double digit levels in April due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, eliminating the gains made since the last recession, reports the Metals Service Center Institute in its latest Metals Activity Report.
U.S. service center steel shipments in April decreased by 31.3 percent from the same month last year. Shipments of aluminum products decreased by 32.2 percent from April 2019.
Canadian service center steel shipments decreased 40.6 percent from April 2019. Shipments of aluminum products decreased 33.0 percent from the same month last year.
